Damage Assessment of Indian Strikes on Pakistani Air Force Infrastructure

Air Defence Radar Damage

Pakistani Air Defense Radars sustained medium to heavy damage as a result of attacks by the Indian Air Force. These installations include the Chunian Air Defense Radar, Pasrur Air Defense Radar, and Arifwala Air Defense Radar sites and Sukkur Airfield.

The most significant damage appears to have occurred at the radar installation at the Chunian Air Defense site. The site appears to have been destroyed in the strikes, with additional structural damage visible in the surrounding area, including the adjacent building.

The damage observed at Sukkur Airfield also appears to be significant with the radar installation being heavily damaged as a result of strikes. The surrounding area has also been impacted by strikes with the buildings attached to the Radar Installation bearing heavy exterior, and likely interior, damage.

The radar infrastructure at Pasrur Air Defense Site and the Arifwala Air Defense Site appear to have suffered more moderate damage. Pasrur has visible damage to the radar structure itself with fragmentation or destruction near the core of the radar installation. Arifwala suffered more moderate damage with some visible damage near the radar dome.

It is likely that all four radar installations are inoperable at the moment and will require heavy maintenance work and repairs in order to become functional. It is clear that the air defense capabilities of the Pakistani Air Force have been degraded in the areas where these facilities are located. This would align with India's stated goals from the operation and other publicly available information.

Airbase Damage

There is visible damage to infrastructure at Rahim Yar Khan Airfield, Sukkur Airfield, Jacobabad Airfield, Bholari Airfield and Sargodha Airfield. Damage at the airfields varies in both intensity and impact. Most of the damage is minor but every strike will likely cause some immediate disruption to the day-to-day operations at the airfields.

Sukkur Airfield: Damage to the Sukkur Airfield appears to be moderate as strikes targeted a radar installation site and a shelter. The shelter, likely used for maintenance, appears to be fully collapsed and will likely require a lengthy reconstruction period, while the radar installation site appears to be fully destroyed.

Rahim Yar Khan Airfield: The Rahim Yar Khan Airfield sustained minor damage, mostly to its runway and a building next to an apron. Disruption to operations should be minimal as runways can be easily repaired, and the building does not appear to be part of the critical infrastructure for the installation.

Jacobabad Airfield: Damage to Jacobabad Airfield is minor and impacts from the strike appear to be isolated. A singular aircraft hangar positioned off an apron has suffered damage and the aircraft hangar does not appear to be part of the airfields critical infrastructure.

Bholari Airfield: Bholari Airfield experienced minor damage with one aircraft hangar being targeted. The hangar, likely serving as a maintenance area, could be part of the critical infrastructure for the installation and its destruction will likely hamper the day-to-day activities of the airfield.

Sargodha Airfield: The Sargodha Airfield experienced very minor damage with airstrikes hitting one of its runways, rendering it unusable. Runways are easy to repair and thus likely won’t affect the long-term operations of the installation in any meaningful capacity.
